You...Oh, thank the cosmos, Eiynah is writing again! You are the oasis among the desert of ex-Muslims not addressing all these issues you've brought!

I am Muslim myself from Malaysia, but I'm currently disillusioned with the state of Islam in my country and might consider leaving. We've already voted Najib Razak but the fallout from the rising fundamentalism under his watch is still felt. It's still not safe now as a Malaysian Muslim to come out as not Muslim.

Again, I might consider leaving, but I feel stuck between the fundies still roaming my country and the ex-Muslims who can't seem to acknowledge the far-right exploiting them. My "exmuslimism" is informed by Tariq Ali, As'ad AbuKhalil and few other Muslim-sounding named intellectuals who can empathize with both Muslims and other minorities. People who can stand against bigotry while stand up for justice & reason.

It's frustrating to see Maajid Nawaz, Ayaan Ali and other well-known ex-Muslims not calling out bigotry & hate and blame it on the mythical "regressive left". I have yet to meet others who are on the same intellectual wavelength as you and Tariq Ali.

Hope you keep writing and fighting!Altercatorhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09474575086048291259noreply@blogger.com
